Chromata — Paint by Number

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 1, 2026

Chromata is a paint-by-number game published by DAKIS TECHNOLOGIES LTD (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. The short version: Chromata works fully offline, we run no servers that receive your data, and the only information that leaves your device is what you choose to back up to your own Google Drive, an anonymous crash report if the app crashes, and what Google’s advertising SDK collects when ads are shown.

1. Information stored on your device

The app keeps the following on your device only, so it can remember where you left off:

  • Level progress, including which regions you have filled and completion times.
  • Achievements and play streaks.
  • Settings such as music, sound and theme preferences.
  • Ad-frequency counters (how many levels you have completed and when an ad was last shown) used only to limit how often ads appear.

This data never leaves your device unless you turn on cloud backup (section 2).Reset Progress in Settings erases it, and so does uninstalling the app.

2. Optional Google sign-in and cloud backup

You can play without an account. If you choose Sign in with Google in Settings, the app asks Google for permission to:

  • Read your basic profile (name, email address and profile picture) so the app can show who is signed in.
  • Store a save file in the private, app-specific area of your own Google Drive (the “application data folder”). The file contains your progress, achievements, settings and profile so they can be restored on a new device.

The backup is transferred directly between your device and Google Drive over an encrypted connection. We do not operate any server that receives, stores or can read it. Sign-in tokens are kept in your device’s secure, encrypted storage and are used only to talk to Google on your behalf.

You can sign out at any time from Settings, which removes the tokens from your device. To delete the backup itself, open Google Drive, go to Settings → Manage apps → Chromata → Delete hidden app data, or email us (section 9).

3. Advertising

Some versions of Chromata show a short full-screen ad after you finish a level, served by Google AdMob. Ads are never shown while you are painting. When an ad is requested, Google may collect information such as your device’s advertising ID, IP address, device type and approximate location to deliver and measure ads. How Google uses this information is described in Google’s Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows a consent prompt before any ad is loaded and honours your choice. On Android you can also reset or delete your advertising ID under Settings → Google → Ads.

4. Crash reports

If the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, it sends a crash report so we can find and fix the problem. A report contains the error and where in the app’s code it happened, the screens you were on just before, your device model, operating system version, app version, and a random identifier for that app installation. It does not contain your name, email address, Google account, progress or anything you painted.

Reports are processed for us by Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) on servers in the European Union, under Sentry’s privacy policy, and are deleted after 90 days. Crash reporting cannot be switched off inside the app because it only runs when something has already gone wrong; it sends nothing while the app is working normally.

5. What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
  • We do not run analytics or track how you use the app. Crash reports (section 4) are the only diagnostic data we receive, and they carry no account identity.
  • We do not access your photos, contacts, microphone, camera or precise location.
  • We do not create accounts on our own systems; Google sign-in is optional.

6. Third parties

Two third parties receive data through the app, and only in the situations described above: Google (Google Sign-In, Google Drive and Google AdMob) and Sentry (crash reports). Each acts under its own privacy policy. We do not share data with anyone else.

7. Children

Chromata is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Deleting your data and your rights

Because your data lives on your device and in your own Google Drive, you can delete it yourself at any time, without contacting us:

  • Progress, achievements and settings on the device: open the app, go to You → Settings → Reset Progress. If you are signed in, this also replaces the Drive backup with an empty one. Uninstalling the app removes everything stored locally as well.
  • The Google Drive backup: in Google Drive, open Settings → Manage apps → Chromata → Delete hidden app data. Signing out of the app in Settings removes the sign-in tokens from your device.
  • Crash reports: these are deleted automatically after 90 days. To have them removed sooner, email us the approximate date and time of the crash and your device model, and we will delete the matching reports.

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or UK GDPR) you may also have the right to access, correct, export or erase personal data and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise these rights, email us at the address below. We keep no copy of your game data, so there is nothing for us to retain once you delete it from your device or your Drive.

9. Contact

Questions or requests about this policy can be sent to info@dakis.tech. DAKIS TECHNOLOGIES LTD is the data controller for the app.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s store listing release notes.
